Fishing specific:
How big is El Salto Lake, and how far away is it from Mazatlan?
El Salto Lake is a scenic lake located on the foot hills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. The closest international airport is in Mazatlan - airport code MZT. El Salto Lake is a mere 90 minute drive from Mazatlan. The lake was created by damming the Elota River and spans approximately 27,000 acres. The weather averages about 82 degrees fahrenheit. Fifteen years ago El Salto Lake was stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass. Because of the warm temperature of the water, the bass became very big and agressive. Unlike the other fishing companies on the lake, our fishing guides are natives from the small towns around the lake. They know the prime seasonal spots for fishing. Siguis, our chief of guides, is single-handedly responsible for the growth of the catch and release program at El Salto Lake for the past twelve years.
